A hybrid snow groomer on Val Thorens' slopes
A pioneer in environmental advances, this season, the Val Thorens ski patrol team boasts a new electric-transmission snow groomer, a 2013 innovation from Kassböhrer.
This cutting-edge technology reduces fuel consumption and eliminates risks linked to hydraulic transmission circuits: an environmentally friendly technological innovation.
Kässbohrer is the first manufacturer to have developed and brought to market a "hybrid" diesel-electric snow groomer: the PistenBully 600 E+.
This new machine boasts innovative technology that offers a number of benefits: - produces much higher output than hydrostatic transmission systems
- consumes up to 20 % less fuel
- allows a reduction of around 20 % of C02 and nitrogen oxide emissions
- particle filter guarantees a 99% reduction in soot particles emitted into the environment and cutting high pressure hydraulics eliminates the risk of soil pollution.
Finally, the engine's constant low-speed rotation means the vehicle runs very quietly.
Thanks to the hybrid traction concept, the PistenBully can even be used as a power source to provide enough energy to run external electric tools, for repairs amongst other things.
